1. What is capitalism?
Capitalism is basically a social system where a small group of people known as the "capitalist class" own the companies or industries where people working in them make a living. The workers produce these products that are in turn giving the capitalist class the profits. The capitalists' main goal for these products is to look to the consumer for profits not the consumers well being or needs. They use their knowledge of what they predict will help them gain profit not about the benefits their buyers could make. Capitalism is the practice of which the wealthy gain their large sums of money from the people who work for them, while they try to come up with more ideas to make money there are struggles in other parts of the world that need to be dealt with.

2. What form of capitalism does the United States practice? What are the details of this form of capitalism?
The United States actually uses a "mixed economy. In this form both private business owners and the state's production are both occurring at the same time. The practice of producing goods are used by both the private and public parts of the economy so that each have a share.

3. Why does the U.S. practice capitalism -- why is it the system that the founders of the United States established?
The U.S. practices mixed economy because both private enterprises and the government play large roles in order to keep a stable economy. During the mixed economy the private owners are able to make the most sum of money, however the government helps keep them in check. To support the economy private businesses produce products that appeal to the consumers. Consumers play a special role in this economy as well, the more consumers purchase a certain product the higher the price will increase and the less the consumers purchase the lower the prices of the products will be. In addiction the government assures that any prices changed are reasonable and products made are not a threat to the consumers.

4. What are the positives and negatives of having this economic system?
Having a mixed economy enables a more cooperative economy because both the government and private enterprises are involved. This advantage allows the U.S. to benefit of both from the way the private business works and how our government works. Also with the cooperation of both types of structures there is a balance in the growth of the country's economy which will give the U.S. a successful future. The many separate businesses involved in the mixed economy not only give gain profits for themselves but also to the well-being of the country's economy. However there are downsides too this type of economy, the happiness of the country is of great importance in a mixed economy so more goods are mainly being produced for the society and not for the economy itself. Also under a mixed economy, private enterprises have to be extremely careful with government loopholes that are very common in the production of goods.

5. What is democracy?
In this form of government the people have a say in the changes that affect them and their economy. People are able to vote on certain situations and they include their opinions on the changes that are to come with their government's decisions.

6. What form of democracy does the United States practice? What are the details of this form of democracy?
The United States practices a Representative Democracy. In this form of democracy Congress is in charge of including their voices in a government's decisions especially because if they were in a state of direct democracy they feel that too many voices would be involved in handling a small part of the country's future. Therefore with the Representative Democracy the decisions that occur within the country would be more organized and most likely more civilized.

7. Why does the U.S. practice democracy -- why is it the system that the founders established?
The practice democracy so that the people's voices would be able to be heard. This form of democracy was established because history states that the colonists were tired of "taxation without representation", where they were completely fed up with the government enforcing taxes on them without their consent. And so the government decided upon a Representative Democracy so that the colonists were at least able to vote on the person who would represent them in a positive way so that in a way their opinions would be considered.

8. What are the positives and negatives of having this system?
The positives of a Representative Economy is that the people have a say in the choices of the government through their representatives. These representatives are able to make these important decisions because citizens voted for them in elections, therefore they are trusted among the people. However because the citizens vote for their representatives occasionally the majority may vote for the wrong person and then they do not receive the things that they had thought were going to occur if they voted on their representative.

9. Summarize four or five main points of film, critique arguments, and relate to research:
In Michael Moore's film his obvious agenda is to express how he despises capitalism and how it truly ruins the lives of the working class. In the very beginning he states how capitalism is basically "people with things versus people without" and this is seen when a once prosperous family is forced to move out of their farm by a company that suddenly bought their land. A woman who lived in the farm with her family felt as if her "heritage" was being stolen because these people were taking away her home. With the practice of capitalism higher ups are able to do such a thing without a care in the world. He also feels that the capitalists "take advantage of other's misfortunes" which is plenty proof as the film progresses. As they take and take their profits increase while their workers' lives plummet to the ground. With a free enterprise there is always competition among businesses and while businesses grow they begin to develope to benefit themselves and end up laying off countless workers leaving them all jobless and the company swimming in their benefits. There is also a part of the movie where he mentions the capitalists' use of "death peasants", where companies recieve major benefits with the death of their workers. There was even a situation where a woman's husband died of cancer and a large sum of money was found out of his death. However instead of her recieving the money the bank had taken it as their's feeling as they should have it. This was very unjust and plainly awful because that money should have gone to his family, it was basically laughing right in the family's face. However the company doesn't even bat an eyelash as long as they recieve the profits, their concious is clean. As banks and other companies continue to take more away from citizens some start to revolt a very understandable thing to do when the things that they cherish most are being stolen from them. A scene where citizens who were very angry and very hurt with the banks decision to take their home and begin pouncing on the person hired to take their home down. These angered citizens protested strongly holding their ground and verbally shouted their anger to the man. Eventually the bankers and police left them alone, showing the citizens that they could do something to stop these people.

In the film Moore uses different approaches such as going to the sources of the problem with his camera crew and rarely taking no for an answer. He near the end held a money bag to the company demanding money like they did to so many other citizens in their own selfises. Later through the majority of his attempts he is usually kicked out by officials. I don't feel his approaches are over the top because he doesn't do things such as resorting to violence he's physically stating his distain for capitalism and not hurting anyone. He's trying to fight for what he believes in and by making this film trying to spread the word against capitalism.

10. What is the relationship between capitalism and democracy? How do they work together, how do their principles coincide and how do the oppose each other?
Capitalism and democracy are both forms of government. They involve the people and their own way of keeping our country's economy.at a good rate. Citizens in both forms play a role to maintain stabilty in their lives and others. However the way each practice in order to keep their lives going is very different. Capitalism practices so that the higher-up companies can take more profit than what their workers already make. It allows upperclass such as banks to take things away from the working class such as their homes in order for the banks to make profit. Democracy is the form of which people are allowed to have a voice in the changes that affect their lives lawfully. They are able to have an input of yes or no if they agree or disagree to a certain change that could affect their jobs or their entire well-being overall.
